Located in the heart of Calgary’s white collar downtown core, The Charcut Roast House has perfected lunch for the corporate crowd. Restaurant owners from around the world should be flown in to this uber chic hangout and study up on everything about the place. The quality of the food, the presentation, and the atmosphere would make you think that you’d either need to take out a loan or become an i-banker just to get a table. This couldn’t be farther from the truth.

For a mere $15 (for all of you Torontonians out there, that’s the price of a cheeseburger in many spots) you will be served the “Charcut Lunch All at Once.” This is a meal designed for grabbing a quality lunch and getting back to the office before 1pm. Charcut gives you a guarantee that you’ll be in and out in 45 minutes, and I have yet to be let down on this promise. The meal includes the daily soup, the daily sandwich, and a bag of warm cookies for you to take with you and munch on in the afternoon.

Let me be clear, we’re not talking about a subway sandwich here. This is prime quality food for $15. The sandwiches are daily specials, so they rotate all the time, but I’ve been to Charcut when they’ve served a cream of broccoli soup, followed by an Alberta Beef Steak Sandwich, complimented by perfectly seasoned french fries (topped with parmesan cheese) and homemade ketchup.

The setting is a bit hoity toity for me. I believe that Charcut is located in the lobby of a fancy schmancy condo or hotel, but don’t quote me on that. Don’t let yourself be scared off by the super swanky decor, in my opinion this $15 set menu lunch is the best bang for your buck in Calgary.
