2. The eggs benedict on smoked pulled pork was my favorite. It was a special at the time, but if they’re serving it when you go, jump on it.
3. The caesar was ok, but if you’re going to go for more than just water, get a latte. It was incredible.
Joy Bistro is a popular little spot in Leslieville that serves up an impressive brunch menu with dishes averaging around $11-$13. Yes, you’re going to drop a few extra bucks here in comparison with your hangover curing bacon and eggs at the local greasy spoon. Justifiably so, as this is anything but. After much humming and hawing, I decided to have one of the daily special’s. Eggs Benedict on smoked pulled pork. I paid $12.50 for my meal, and that was a total steal. My only regret was that I had agreed to share half with Jamie.
While standing in line, one of the waitress’s brought out a few tasters from the kitchen… carrot cake waffles with a bit of cream and syrup. I can honestly say that I don’t know if I’ve ever had waffles that were any better than that. Jamie and I had also agreed to split an order these, as we couldn’t help ourselves after tasting them while waiting in line. I think Jamie was decently full at the end of breakfast, but I was left wanting a bit more. If I had an entire order of the eggs benedict to myself, I would have been alright. However, I’m glad that I decided to at least have half, as I was considering ordering the waffles alone. That would have been a mistake, as they offered up a pretty miniscule amount of food. Looked great, tasted great, but not enough.
The caesars at Joy Bistro are $5. They’re alright. The latte, for $3.50, is much better. All in all, if you’re looking for a place to snag some brunch in Leslieville, Joy Bistro is a fantastic little spot. The line wasn’t painfully long (like nearby Bonjour Brioche), and the food was damn tasty. If you’re hungry, I’d advise ordering something from the egg’s benedict portion of the menu to be safe. The interior may look a bit feminine, but this is definitely a place that has a little bit of something for everyone. Her Take
