2. You can’t go wrong with the standard pork sandwich. It’s topped with marinated pork, truffle sauce and parmesan cheese, and is amazingly delicious.
3. One sandwich will fill you up, with the cost being $8.15.
Porchetta & Co. on Dundas West is a tiny joint that specializes in one thing: pork. Although this may sound mundane, imagine pork marinated in lemon zest, wrapped in prosciutto then again in pork belly with a final slow roast for 30 minutes. Thus a simple piece of meat is transformed into an irresistible temptation of flavor in under an hour. Porchetta & Co. then gives customers two options: a sourdough sandwich topped with crackling, truffle sauce and more, or a plate of the good stuff with a choice of one side. We went for the sandwich, and damn it was delicious.
At the risk of sounding like a pretentious tosser, I will say the beauty of the sandwich came from the complexity of the flavors. Truffle sauce is one of my all-time favorite toppings, and mixing this with hot sauce, mayo, marinated pork and parmesan cheese resulted in a tasty punch for the palette. Size-wise the sandwich filled both Kyle and I up perfectly: we weren’t so stuffed beyond mobility, but we were able to leave fully satisfied. If pork is not your thing, they did have a lobster roll special while we were there, but I’m sure this is subject to change.
Porchetta & Co. on Dundas West is quite small, and when driving by on the weekend I noticed a line slowly forming out the door. On a sunny day this place is perfect for grabbing a sandwich to go and chilling at the nearest park, but if you’re planning on staying be prepared to stand or feel slightly cramped. However, for under ten bucks this sandwich is certainly worth the wait. His Take
