2. Arrive earlier in the evenings if you can. The place is very small and can fill up fast.
3. Don’t be picky and not go in just because you can’t get a table. Wait around for a half hour and something is bound to open up.
The best dive bar in Toronto is such a hole-in-the-wall that if no one told you about it, you’d never know it existed. This is a bar with drinks so cheap you’re practically stealing from the place, with everything on Thursday night until 8PM being $2.50. You read that correctly: ALL DRINKS. Holy cheap.

This glorious watering hole is called Wide Open, and when it comes to drink prices, not much beats the specials this place has throughout the week. It’s located on Spadina just south of Queen, and if you’re looking to meet a friend for a drink, but aren’t prepared to shell out $12 for a cocktail, this is the ideal bar. Couple of Yuppies went there recently on a Thursday night and got two drinks for a fiver. I’m surprised that’s even legal these days with the cost most bars charge for a splash of wine.
Of course, the best dive bar in Toronto doesn’t come without its drawbacks. It’s small, so seating is limited and working your way towards the washrooms at the back are a nightmare. However, even on a crowded night you can still manage to lean on a wall and wait around until a table clears. With $2.50 drinks I’ll order all night while doing a handstand if I have to (challenge accepted). Overall, Wide Open is ideal for catching up over cheap drinks for those looking to save a buck or two.His Take
