His Take: Perfect Coconut Shrimp at Buster’s Sea Cove

I have yet to have a bad dish at Buster’s Sea Cove. Correction… I have yet to have a dish at Buster’s Sea Cove that isn’t one of the best things that I have ever tasted. The seafood orzo is to die for, and if you’re feeling up for a bit of a weightier meal …

1. Spend a couple extra bucks and get the seafood orzo. Best dish on the menu at Buster’s Sea Cove… along with the lobster roll, and coconut shrimp!

2. Despite the hype around the peameal bacon sandwich place, also in St. Lawrence Market, Buster’s is about 20x better.

3. If you show up on a busy day when there’s a decently long line, don’t let it put you off. These guys move quickly.

I have yet to have a bad dish at Buster’s Sea Cove. Correction… I have yet to have a dish at Buster’s Sea Cove that isn’t one of the best things that I have ever tasted. The seafood orzo is to die for, and if you’re feeling up for a bit of a weightier meal try the halibut on a bun. I have yet to eat a better sandwich in the city. The swordfish sandwich is also incredible, and most recently Jamie and I shared the lobster roll with fries, as well as a side order of the coconut shrimp. I absolutely inhaled the lobster roll, which wasn’t difficult as it seemed to melt in my mouth. The coconut shrimp were outstanding. Best I’ve ever had, without a doubt. The shrimp was juicy and fresh, while the deep fried coconut provided a perfectly sweet compliment unlike any coconut shrimp I’ve ever tasted.

The scene is absolute chaos. It’s honestly as if this restaurant has been directly transplanted from New York City. As soon as you enter the line you are asked to order by a young girl with a microphone. Once you have chosen, she relays this to the kitchen staff. Although, no one seems to take notice as they scramble to prepare the correct orders for hungry customers… and there are tons of them. I think the girl with the microphone is a clever ploy to ensure that there is no hesitation once you reach the front of the line. You have made your choice, no turning back now!

St. Lawrence market is one of my favorite attractions in the city, and Buster’s Sea Cove is, in my opinion, the best part about the whole shtick. On a Saturday afternoon there are few better ways to enjoy Toronto than to wander the market, pick up your groceries for the weekend, and grab some quick, reasonably priced, and absolutely phenomenal seafood at Buster’s Sea Cove!
