There are a few places in Toronto that compete for the best pho. The Golden Turtle on Ossington has been toted as the cream of the crop, and a couple spots down sits Pho Tien Thanh, both of which serve this cheap Vietnamese dish for as little as $7 for a small. However, our favorite place to go when we’re pinching pennies is Pho Hung on Spadina. There’s something about the pho here that boasts more flavor than all the rest.
Don’t get me wrong – most pho that you eat will taste very similar, but certain places must add in a few more spices to pull ahead of the pack. Pho Hung does this very well, and if you order a large you’ll leave feeling completely satisfied while spending under $10. If you’re in the mood for appetizers, the chicken wings are greasy but delicious, and the Vietnamese spring rolls blow the Chinese equivalent out of the park. Throw a beer in there and you’re looking at a great Friday dinner for under $25.His Take
